Our Hendersonville Dental Crown
Treatment Process

Preparing The Tooth

Dr. Valdes will begin by cleaning and numbing your mouth in preparation for treatment. We remove the decay and reshape your tooth to create a stable platform for your new dental crown. We strive to be as conservative in our preparations as possible to preserve as much natural tooth structure as we can.

Imaging & Temporary Crown Placement

Using a 3D scanner, we will create digital impressions of your teeth, which will be used to build your custom dental crown. We’ll also capture some additional images of your teeth to ensure that your new crown matches the shade of your natural smile perfectly. Your model or impression will be sent to a dental lab where your crown will be crafted out of durable and esthetic materials. Your dentist will attach a temporary crown for the few weeks it will take for your permanent crown to be made in order to protect your newly-prepared tooth.

Final Fit & Finish

Once we receive your permanent dental crown, you’ll return to our office for a final fitting. First, we’ll ensure that your new crown fits comfortably and make any final adjustments. When we’ve achieved the right fit, Hendersonville dentist, Dr. Valdes will permanently secure it in place with a powerful dental adhesive.

Frequently Asked Questions

Check out these frequently asked questions, or call us to speak with our team.

Dental crowns can be used to treat teeth that have suffered damage and decay. Other candidates that could benefit from a dental crown include patients who have large fillings or serious cavities, as well as those who have experienced dental trauma resulting in cracked, chipped, or broken teeth. Patients who have undergone root canal therapy will often require a crown to finish the procedure, as crowns cap the entire tooth all the way down to the gumline in order to protect it from future issues.

In addition, because crowns can restore the shape and appearance of teeth in addition to restoring their functionality, they can be used for certain cosmetic cases where other services like veneers or dental bonding are not viable options.

Dental crowns can last as long as 15 years when they are made and placed properly. Keeping up with good oral health habits, like brushing your teeth at least twice a day and  flossing at least once a day, as well as seeing your dentist every 6 months for regular cleanings and checkups can also enhance your crown’s longevity.

To care for your dental crown, all you need to do is treat it like you would your natural teeth. Be sure to brush at least twice a day for at least two minutes and floss at least once, preferably at night. In addition to visiting your dentist every six months for regular visits, avoid snacking on overly hard or sticky foods to help extend the lifespan of your dental crown.

Dental crowns that are placed as a part of restorative treatment are usually covered by most insurance policies. The exact amount of coverage, and how much you will have to pay, will vary based on your unique plan.

Cosmetic crowns, however, may not be covered by insurance. Check with your insurance to find out if dental crowns are covered under your policy.

Vibrant Dental has a lovely waiting room, plus kind and attentive staff. Tara at the front desk is really helpful with scheduling, and I enjoy my hygienist who is thorough, gentle and informative. The team is top notch, caring and has up front pricing for those seeking care without insurance.

Another great experience today at Vibrant Dental! The hygienist was new to me as I had to reschedule my appointment and my current hygienist was booked. I recommend either hygienist, both are friendly and focused on patient care. Had the panoramic Xray which is new to me. It was easy to do & less concerning than the days when they’d lay a heavy vest on you and leave the room!
